Naca Valley Vineyard is a family business located about nine miles from downtown Nacogdoches, Texas, and six miles from the loop 224. This is the realization of a longtime dream of Buzz and Wanda Mouton with their son Scott and his wife Chelsea. The vineyard, located at 9897 FM 1878, is surrounded by native trees, plants, flowers and vines. These wild grapevine variates vines include; muscadine, Summer Grape, Mustang and many others. A focal feature of the property is beautiful Pete’s Pond, where flocks of ducks fly in to rest at dusk.

Talk of building a winery and making wine started back in the late 90’s, when Buzz began to gain recognition for his hard work by winning many awards for local and state level amateur wine making competitions. Eventually we planted our first vineyard in February of 2013 with a total of 600 grapevines. Half of the planting included Blanc du Bois white grape grapevines and half was Black Spanish (Lenoir) red grape grapevines. This vineyard was lost due to the extreme cold and freezing snow/ice. We will be planting another vineyard using better grapes vines that are more resilient against cold and disease.

Buzz, our vintner, has been making wine as an amateur since he was a teenager. He has won many awards, including top wins from the statewide Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association (TWGGA) competition and the former wine contests at the Texas Blueberry Festival in Nacogdoches. Now he puts his knowledge to professional use making some of the best wine in Nacogdoches County.

After we planted our vineyard we built our winey which includes the the production facilities and tasting room. In 2016 we purchased our first tanks, pumps, filters and various other equipment. 2017 saw the opening our winery doors to the public. We had no food with a total of one wine, parking for 6 cars and seating for 20. Since that first day to now (2023), we have a permanent wood fire pizza oven, had up to 10 or more wines available at one time, parking for 70 - 80 and seating for more than 150. We have added multiple decks with canopies, fire pit, garden area seating, and a pavilion for live music.

We are still in the process of expanding our facilities by adding; cabins for rentals, RV spots for travelers, outdoor activities, more entertainment options, and a larger production facility.

“Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.”
